Black History Month

Black History Month takes place every October.  It is an opportunity to celebrate black culture and heritage whilst raising awareness of resources and support available at the University.

One such resource is the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Centre in Sackville Street Building.  The centre is a library dedicated to improving race relations and collects books, videos, reports, newspaper cuttings and journals specific to BME groups.

As part of Black History month there are a number of activities arranged from a walking tour of black heritage in the city centre to a talk about Hollywood to the origins of salsa.  All events can be seen in the timetable by using this link:

This timetable has been updated to reflect new events!

Please bear in mind that although most events are free, many require pre-registration, so it is advisable to book before they are full.
