In the first of two linked concerts, we're delighted to welcome leading contemporary ensemble Psappha to perform chamber works by Anthony Burgess and those who influenced his music and writing. The programme will comprise Beethoven (String Trio in C Minor), Mozart (Oboe Quartet) and three pieces by Burgess, including the world premiere of his Sonata for Cello and Piano in G Minor, composed in 1945 but only found in the archives of the Burgess Foundation this year. Not to be missed.

Psappha and the Burgess Foundation present a second concert of chamber works by Anthony Burgess and composers who influenced him. The programme includes Debussy (Syrinx), Ravel (Le Tombeau de Couperin), Beethoven (Cello Sonata in G Minor) and three pieces by Burgess including his Quartet for Flute, Oboe, Cello and Piano, possibly the finest of his known chamber compositions. This is a rare opportunity to hear Burgess's music played at the highest level in the city of his birth.
