The Researcher Development Framework

A briefing for Supervisors (November 29th, 12.00-14.00. Roscoe, room 1.009)

This briefing workshop is intended to introduce Supervisors to the new Researcher Development Framework which outlines the range of skills, knowledge and attributes that an independent researcher should demonstrate. The framework replaces the Joint Skills Statement and offers Supervisors and PGR students a tool through which to discuss the student’s professional development needs. Covering a range of areas including knowledge and intellectual abilities, personal effectiveness, research governance and organisation, and engagement, influence and impact the framework offers a holistic view of what is required in order to be a successful 21st century researcher. The framework is a national initiative, thus supporting the mobility of researchers between UK institutions.

The briefing will introduce the framework, offer suggestions as to how it can be used to plan professional development (and how it might be used alongside eProg), explain how it has been mapped to researcher development opportunities offered by the University and will answer any questions.

Lunch will be provided
