The Paper Shell Review,
the University of Maryland's only undergraduate journal of essays on
literary topics, is now accepting submissions. The journal's first issue
was published with an introduction by Michael Dirda, a Pulitzer
Prize-winning book critic.
This is a great opportunity for all undergrads to
get published and share their work with a larger community. The call
for submissions goes out to several universities internationally.
The submission guidelines are below, and a previous issue can be viewed here: http://www.english.umd.edu/academics/undergraduate/psr/spring-2012
Submissions should only be sent via email and not the website.
The Paper Shell Review Submission Guidelines:
Undergraduate students from any accredited institution of higher
education may submit papers to The Paper Shell Review. Submission by a
single author should not exceed three essays. E-mail essays as Microsoft
Word attachments to
papershellreview@gmail.com.
Submissions for this year's issue will be accepted until Sunday,
February 17, 2013 at 11:59pm.
All papers must be double-spaced, in Times New Roman font, numbered, and
formatted with one-inch margins. Papers should not exceed 20 pages, but
exceptions may be made for essays of superb quality. Essays must follow
the Modern Language Association style guidelines as defined in the MLA
Guidelines for Writers of Research Papers (latest edition).
The e-mail body accompanying any paper should include the author's full
name, undergraduate institution, current year (freshman, sophomore,
junior, or senior), paper title, and contact information (e-mail, phone
number, current address, and permanent address). The journal is
published in print in April and on-line in May on the UMD English
Department website.
