Timothy Marcellino
Staff in the Division of English, American Studies and Creative Writing
wish to express their condolences to the family and friends of Timothy
Marcellino (formerly Timothy Thompson), who died recently. Timothy
commenced his studies in English
and American Studies (as it then was), in 2008-09. Though he was unable
to complete his degree, he is remembered by his friends from the
2010-11 cohort. Our thoughts are with his family.

Be a Student Ambassador
**Now recruiting: SRID Student Ambassadors for the academic year 2013-14**
The Undergraduate Recruitment and Widening Participation Team are currently taking applications for the role of SRID Student Ambassador for the academic year 2013-14. The Undergraduate Recruitment and Widening Participation Team run a comprehensive and exciting programme of activities for prospective students and their key influencers. We work with primary, secondary and further education students as well as teachers, careers advisers and parents. Our aims are to:
Becoming a SRID student ambassador allows you to apply for a wide variety of paid work opportunities (£6.94 per hour as standard) with casual hours available throughout the year. Becoming an Ambassador with us is a great opportunity to enhance your skills and employability, meet new people, make new friends and earn some money!

Manchester Teaching Awards & Union Awards
This week the Manchester Teaching Awards have been
launched in partnership between the Students’ Union and the University.
Now in their second year, these awards give students the opportunity to
celebrate inspirational teaching and outstanding
support from University staff.
Staff can be nominated in the following categories:

Most Accessible Lecturer

Best “Postgraduate that Teaches”

Best Personal/Academic advisor

So there are loads of opportunities for staff in your department to gain recognition.

been launched. There are a number of categories for students to be
recognised in, including volunteering, fundraising and campaigning.
